Resetting
I have developed a mental concept of "resetting", which provides me comfort and peace of mind.
Whenever I goof off, lose my temper, or get stressed, I can come back to this concept.
I contemplate it, and it is like spreading a soothing ointment on my brain.
"Resetting" is realizing that the present moment is new - like a new game, the score is "reset" to 0. I can start-over, do things differently. I don't have to repeat the previous behavior.
This is a thought-extension from the two practices that changed my life: contemplating the present moment, and applying the constant value investing technique to stocks.
"Contemplating the moment" is simply concentrating on exactly what I'm doing for a minute. If I'm walking, just concentrate on walking and the surroundings, and let your mind dwell on your walking.
"constant Value Investing" is more than just to make money. I actually sometimes just make up stock price numbers in a file and run my program to calculate how many shares to buy and sell, because its spiritual. It reinforces that when things change, like the stock market, we can reset back to a starting point, and cope with it.

I use a similar concept from computer technology. For me the term is "refresh". Very frequently I need to refresh my life and live in the present.
I'm glad I read this because it refreshed it for me again. I like this concept. I usually just stop and say, "Ok, my day restarts right now."
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you like this concept.
After a while, just knowing that you can reset gives you peace of mind because you realize that, if you are not happy with the current situation, it is only temporary, and it is never too late to start over.
Great article. I was thrilled to feature it on the Success and Abundance Mindset Carnival.
I love your concept of just starting over, beginning again.
It is a comfort to know that things are not permanent and you can start over.
